Slurry cut-off walls are increasingly being used to control groundwater flows for geo-environmental or geotechnical purposes. The most important performance criteria of slurry cut-off walls are strength and permeability. This criterion makes it costly and time consuming. The objective of this problem statement by HSL Constructor Pte Ltd is to create an open platform for renowned international consultants (individual / firm) to submit a proposal on an alternate solution for cement bentonite slurry cut-off wall that overcomes the existing limitations.
Addressing all limitations of a cement bentonite slurry wall in terms of permeability, durability and constructability, a suitable alternate/feasible/cost-effective option for slurry cut-off wall shall be developed and submitted including but not limited to the following considerations.
1. Hydraulic conductivity / permeability criteria less than 1 x 10-9 m/s
2. Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) - greater than 100KN/m2 and less than 300KN/m2

Electric Ducted Fan
We are looking to develop an electric ducted fan (EDF) for use on a large VTOL drone. A ducted fan design was selected over an open prop primarily for safety reasons. The hub, nose cone and each fan blade will be made using a carbon fiber 3d printer (Markforged). The duct, stator, inlet and exhaust components will be manufactured using a standard carbon fiber composite layup technique. Each fan blade must not exceed the printers build volume 320 mm x 132 mm x 154 mm. See: https://markforged.com/mark-two/ Ideally the outer diameter of the EDF will not exceed 500 mm. The blade pitch must be carefully thought out, as the EDF will be used for both vertical lift and horizontal flight. Think V-22 Osprey without the variable pitch. Currently, there are several methods in the market, including two popular solutions: the Butterfly Sponge Mop folds the sponge head in half to squeeze out water, and the Roller Sponge Mop pushes a round mop heap between two sets of rollers. Design a new Step Stool
The challenge is to design a new and improved Step Stool than those in the market place. Pls note: Step Stools are different from Step Ladders. Step Stools usually have 2-Steps or 3-Steps, are lightweight, slim in profile, used inside the home, are usually kept in the kitchen or closet. Ladders often have more than 3 steps, are more heavy, used for big projects, and are stored in the garage or outdoor shed. Attached is a PDF showing some of step stools now selling in the market. The best selling ones are on the first page, and they are 1) lower cost, 2) basic & simple in design and construction (that's how they are low cost), 3) but they usually have boring white frame with black steps. The better designed step stools on page-2 are 1) stylish looking, 2) some are very slim (take up less storage space), 3) some have handles that extend to help balance the user to prevent falls, while others 4) include cut outs on the step to help user "lean" to keep balance, and still others 5) include trays to hold tools. A key concern with Step Stools is SAFETY. Many injuries occur due to poor quality/design/engineer or user lose their balance when over reaching. The winning design will help prevent falls and injuries.
